Category 1 Hurricane Richard pasted over Belize four days ago on the 24th. My family and I went to my parents house because we live right on the coast and we were not going to take any chances with our children in flood waters. Aside from some rain and wind we didn’t see much at my parents house–we were on the front veranda practically the whole time. However, in the city, where we live, lots of places experienced several feet of raising waters from the storm surge. Thankfully, our house is not in one of the lower lying areas so the storm surge did not affect our home. We didn’t expect it to but you never can tell with the forces of nature, hence the reason we didn’t stay in our home. We came back into the city to find our home in one piece but areas around our neighborhood were not so lucky. Here are a few photos.
Glad you and your family are OK and that your house made it through the storm. That looks like one hell of a storm.
Thanks, we’re glad too, could have been a lot worse. Thankfully it wasn’t a stronger storm.
