My name?

My name is John but some may know me as Squirt’s Dad (@squirtsdad on Twitter).

Daddy’s lil’ Squirt and I

I grew up in California. Skateboarding, surfing and playing guitar were pretty much my life. Around the time I was 20 years old I moved to Belize, my home country. With that move came some disappointments–it seemed like I was the only skater within a thousand miles, there was a barrier reef which meant no ride-able waves and I knew no one, forget anyone else that played guitar. It was tough but it is the Caribbean so things obviously grew on me.

I met my wife in 2001 but we didn’t start dating until a few years after that. We already knew each other so it got serious quickly. That’s pretty much when I became a step-dad to a beautiful six-year-old girl and we all moved in together. About a year later our son, Squirt, came along and that’s when things really started to get interesting.

Daddy’s lil’ Squirt is my personal blog that is mostly about my only son, Squirt, and our life here in the Caribbean. As awesome as living in the Caribbean may sound, it doesn’t make being a dad any easier. Yeah, becoming and being a dad is the toughest thing I have ever done but also the most awesome and meaningful thing in my life. I’ve been a dad since 2007 and blogging about it since 2008.
